Well, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good? Since I last wrote anything here, I found out I won some kind of art award from the American Aviation Historical Society Journal for my painting of John Wentworth’s snake-nosed Nieuport 28 of the 94th Aero Squadron in 1918. Got a nice looking plaque! Then last week went to the grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony for a new framing place just down the street. It’s called Gold Leaf Framing and Restoration in Westminster and they seem like good people and it looks like they do good work. It’ll be great having a quality framing shop this close at hand. Now if I just had a reason to use them! I wish them much luck. Let me see…anything else good? I have a few gigs to finish up (although inspiration is waning…..but dammit- I GOTTA make stuff or I’ll wither)There’s still some coffee, cheese and milk in the house, and we still have a house….for now….and enough paint to finish a couple more paintings.
The bad? Nearly everything else. I was born and raised in California, and have lived here my entire 50+years. For the first time ever, I’m seriously having to consider leaving the state. Along with everything else going on in the world and nation (or what’s left of it), the thugs, gangsters and thieves running the state have just about raised the extortion level to unbearable heights. What’s called “taxes” and “fees” I call robbery and murder by the minute. I spend x number of minutes producing what I produce and they take it, thereby taking those minutes of my life. Murder by the minute. Neo-feudalist criminals backed by the guns of the state. Mix this in with the Federal scene and you have….
The ugly. The truly ugly. His Exalted Changemaster continues his all out assualt on Freedom. His hatred and fear of liberty and his burglar mentality becomes more evident with each passing day. In his sonorous snake charmer voice he emits the daily lie and all fall down in worship. Or nearly all………….
Robert, the pissed artist.
